A Poem :--

স্বপ্ন ছিল একটা নদী কেনার

স্বপ্ন ছিল একটা নদী কেনার

আব্দুল্লাহ-আল-মামুন

স্বপ্ন ছিল একটা নদী কেনার, শান্ত,শুভ্র বহমান একটা নদী,

যে নদীর কোল ঘেষে সাদা সাদা নিস্পাপ কাশফুল ফুটে থাকে,

বাতাসের দোলায় আর স্রোতের কুল কুল শব্দে

আন্তরে উঠে রোমাঞ্চের মাতম,

সাদা বক উড়ে যায় দল বেধে বহুদুর,

এমন একটা নদী।

স্বপ্ন দেখতাম, একান্তই আমার একটা নদী থাকবে,

নদীর তীরে বসে বসে তোমার চুল ওড়া দেখব,

দেখব দুষ্টু বাতাস তোমার সৌন্দর্যে কেমন হিংসায় জ্বলে পুড়ে

এলোমেলো করে দিয়ে যায় তোমাকে।

তোমার চুড়ির শব্দের কাছে কিভাবে ম্লান হয়

শত বছর ধরে বয়ে যাওয়া ঐ স্রোতের শব্দ।

তোমার কপালের টিপ দেখে কেমন করে

লজ্জায় মেঘের আড়ালে যায় প্রকিতির ঐ আপুর্ব স্রিষ্টি, মায়াবী চাদ।

সারাদিন ধরে তোমার সৌন্দর্যের সাথে পাল্লা দিয়ে

প্রকিতি যখন ব্যার্থ হয়ে ঘুমুতে যায়,

তখন না, নিলা জানো, আমার বুক গর্বে ভরে যায়,

নিজেকে খুব খুব আহংকারী মনে হয়,

বাচতে ইচ্ছা করে আনন্তকাল।

কিন্তু হঠাত মনে ভয় জাগে,

আমি কী পারব তোমাকে তোমার চেয়েও বেশি ভালবাসতে।

সারাদিন নদীর ধারে কাশফুলের ছায়ায় বসে

কাশফূল আর সাদা বকদের সাথে

তোমাকে ভালোবাসার পাল্লা দেয়।

ভালোবাসা শিখি তোমার চোখে আমার জন্য জমানো ভালোবাসার

গভীরতার কাছ থেকে, আর মুগ্ধ হয়,

এত সৌন্দর্য, এত গুন নিয়েও একটা মানুষ কতটা উদার

হতে পারে ! কতটা নিস্পাপ হতে পারে!

নিলা তোমার মনে আছে, একবার আমার সে কি মাথা ব্যাথা !

তারপর, তোমার কোলে মাথা রেখে তুমি আমার চুলে বিলি কাটতেই,

কোথায় পালাল মাথা ব্যাথা।

কি আছে তোমার ঐ নিস্পাপ স্পর্শে, তোমার ঐ শুভ্র ভালবাসায়!

স্বপ্ন ছিল, নদীটা কেনার পর, তোমায় নিয়ে হারিয়ে যাব নৌকা নিয়ে,

আমার ভালবাসার তরী ভেড়াব

কোন এক নির্জন চরে, যেখানে শুধু তুমি আর আমি,

সারাদিন শুধু ভালবাসাবাসি, আর স্বপ্ন দেখা।

কিন্তু স্বপ্ন শুধু স্বপ্নই থেকে গেল আমার, সময় আর পেলাম কই বল।

যখন নদী পেয়েছিলাম, টাকার আভাবে কিনতে পারি না,

এখন আমার আনেক টাকা, কিন্তু নদী কেনার সময় পায় না।

আমার প্রয়োজনে আমি স্বপ্ন দেখেছিলাম, তোমাকে ভালবেসেছিলাম,

জীবনের প্রয়োজনে এখন আমি আনেক ব্যাস্ত, ক্লান্ত, বিদ্ধস্ত।

তারপর ও বেচে আছি,

কারণ এখনও, এত আত্রিপ্ততার মাঝেও

তুমি আমাকে আগের মতই ভালবাস।
